Urban Diplomacy and Innovation Community of Practice (CoP)
The Association of African Universities (AAU), in collaboration with the Institut für qualifizierende Innovationsforschung und -beratung GmbH (IQIB) is pleased to invite members and interested stakeholders to the fourth official meeting of the Urban Diplomacy Community of Practice (CoP) under the Africa-Europe Innovation Platform (AEIP).
Theme: Limitations and risks for Urban Innovation Diplomacy
While urban innovation diplomacy presents significant opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and sustainable urban development, it also comes with a range of challenges and risks that can affect its effectiveness and long-term impact. Understanding these limitations is essential for designing more resilient, inclusive, and successful urban initiatives.
This session will explore the political, institutional, financial, and social barriers that can hinder urban innovation diplomacy efforts. Participants will discuss issues such as governance constraints, stakeholder misalignment, resource limitations, unequal participation, and the risks associated with cross-border urban cooperation and innovation projects.
Through shared experiences and collaborative dialogue, the session aims to identify practical strategies for mitigating risks, overcoming challenges, and strengthening the foundations for effective urban diplomacy and innovation.
