Project Background
The SAVax (Vaccines for Africa: Roll out and Production in South Africa) programme supports South Africa’s ambition to strengthen local production of vaccines, medicines, and other health technologies. The programme is co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU).
As part of this initiative, GIZ is seeking a service provider to facilitate knowledge exchange, strategic partnerships, and investment linkages between Europe and South Africa. The assignment aims to strengthen collaboration among public institutions, industry, investors, research organisations, and other stakeholders to enhance South Africa’s vaccine manufacturing ecosystem and broader health technology sector.
Main Objective
The selected contractor will support the development of sustainable partnerships and investment opportunities by facilitating collaboration and knowledge transfer between European and South African stakeholders involved in vaccine production and health innovation.
Expected Activities (subject to the full Terms of Reference)
The assignment is expected to include activities such as:
- Facilitating knowledge exchange between European and South African organisations working in vaccine manufacturing and health technologies.
- Identifying and connecting potential industry, research, and investment partners.
- Supporting business matchmaking and partnership development.
- Organising networking events, workshops, study visits, or investment dialogues.
- Promoting collaboration that strengthens local manufacturing capacity and technology transfer.
- Supporting investment linkages that contribute to sustainable growth of the vaccine and health technology ecosystem.
