This free webinar will provide a high-level introduction to intellectual property (IP) fundamentals. It will cover the different types of intellectual property rights (IPRs – including patents, copyright, registered designs, trade marks and trade secrets), eligibility criteria, the benefits and scope of protection offered by each type of IPR, and the steps to follow to secure protection.

Entrepreneurs, creatives, researchers, research managers and other professionals across industries wishing to gain essential basic knowledge for safeguarding one’s ideas and innovations and maximising their value.

For those with no prior knowledge of intellectual property, or wishing to refresh their knowledge of the basics (including those who will attend the upcoming IP Management course).

Presenters

Cwengile Cwele has a BSC degree, BSC Hons (Microbiology) and Master of Science (Plant Breeding) degrees from the university of Kwa-Zulu Natal. She is currently enrolled for her LLB Degree. 
 
Cwengile focuses on patent prosecution for local and foreign clients, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, advising on patentability, and conducting technology landscape and freedom to operate searches. She also assists in obtaining Plant Breeder’s rights for clients.
