Call for Narratives – Community-centred connectivity initiatives (CCCIs)

Descrição
Community-centred connectivity initiatives (CCCIs) are increasingly recognised as vital enablers of inclusive, resilient, and locally driven development. Beyond providing access to digital infrastructure, these initiatives strengthen social cohesion, empower communities, and foster locally grounded solutions to global challenges. In a context marked by accelerating climate change and a growing frequency of climate-related environmental disasters, there is a pressing need to explore how locally rooted connectivity models can also contribute to environmental sustainability and justice.
As supporters of community-centred connectivity initiatives, the Local Networks (LocNet) initiative advocates for weaving networks that are not only digital, but also social and, where possible, environmental. LocNet and its partners are particularly interested in understanding how community networks can support environmental justice and contribute to more sustainable local ecosystems.
To this end, we invite individuals and collectives to share reflections, case studies, and stories that highlight the role of CCCIs and local service platforms in environmental action. Contributions may address, among other themes, initiatives focused on measuring environmental impact, promoting circular economy practices, advancing green construction, supporting renewable energy supply, or other related perspectives outlined in the call.
Proposals may be submitted in the form of individual or collective pitches by completing the online submission form. Submissions are open until 31 January 2026.
