Overview

The EUNIC Spaces of Culture Fund 2026 supports innovative cultural relations projects that strengthen collaboration between African and European partners. As part of the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture programme funded by the European Commission, the call focuses on intercultural dialogue, co-creation, and equitable partnerships. Projects are expected to foster mutual learning and long-term collaboration across regions.

Funding

Selected projects can receive up to €50,000, with a minimum co-funding contribution of 5% from project partners.

Eligibility

Applications must be submitted by partnerships that meet the following criteria:

• Projects must take place in Sub-Saharan Africa
• Proposals must be developed and implemented through a triangular partnership
• Partnerships must include:
  • At least three local cultural and/or civil society partners
  • At least three full EUNIC members (or two where no EUNIC cluster is present)
  • The involvement of an EU Delegation
• Projects must be co-created and jointly developed by all partners
• Projects should reflect principles of cultural relations, including dialogue, mutual learning, and shared capacity building

Scope and Focus

The call is open to a broad range of thematic areas, including arts and creative industries, digitalisation, education, gender, heritage, human rights, social inclusion, sustainability, tourism, and youth. Projects are encouraged to adopt interdisciplinary, cross-border, and innovative approaches, including digital or hybrid formats where relevant.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted by 21 June 2026. Partnerships are encouraged to begin collaboration and concept development before 30 April 2026 to ensure strong, co-designed proposals. Applicants should consult the full call guidelines prior to submission.

Key Considerations

Proposals should clearly demonstrate innovation, balanced partnerships, and tangible contributions to Africa–Europe cultural exchange. Emphasis is placed on shared ownership, capacity building, and sustainable impact.
