About IYBA WE4A
Investing in Young Businesses in Africa – Women Entrepreneurship for Africa (IYBA WE4A) is jointly co-financed by the European Union, the Secretariat of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and implemented by GIZ. Through its partnership with Goodwell Investments, the programme strengthens access to finance for women entrepreneurs in sustainable sectors across Africa.
Meet the first four loan recipients
TIBCO (Tanzania)
Tanzania International Bee Company (TIBCO) is advancing a fully traceable, climate-smart honey value chain. Founded in 2021, the company aggregates honey from over 1,200 smallholder beekeepers, 45% of whom are women and 30% youth. TIBCO combines strong export demand with inclusive sourcing and will use the loan to finance raw honey procurement, quality assurance, and organic certification.
EatFresh (Tanzania)
EatFresh is a high-growth SME sourcing and exporting fresh avocados and avocado oil. Working with more than 2,300 smallholder farmers, the company employs a predominantly female workforce and operates a circular, climate-smart business model. The loan will support working capital and post-harvest infrastructure to reduce food loss and enable future scale-up.
Agriflex (Kenya)
Founded in 2023, Agriflex is a woman-led agricultural input distribution company addressing market inefficiencies through integrated supply chains and farmer training. The business works with 500 agro-dealers and 30 manufacturers and has trained over 5,000 farmers. The loan will support working capital and operational optimisation to strengthen competitiveness.
Safi Organics (Kenya)
Safi Organics produces biochar-based fertilisers from locally available biomass, improving soil health while reducing reliance on imported synthetic fertilisers. Founded in 2015, the company will use the loan to expand production capacity, increase working capital, and prepare for regional replication.
Applications open
These four companies are the first of 35 businesses to receive financial support through the IYBA WE4A–Goodwell partnership in 2026. In addition, 100 entrepreneurs will benefit from six months of technical training via Goodwell’s NYUMBA platform, with a focus on investment readiness.
Women-owned or women-led businesses with clear climate impact in Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, or Tanzania are encouraged to apply.
