The Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) has launched its 28th Call for Proposals, inviting applications for high-impact projects that strengthen smallholder farmers, local communities, and sustainable agricultural value chains.

The call targets commercially viable initiatives that also deliver measurable environmental and social benefits. Projects must demonstrate both development impact and financial sustainability.

Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants include:

  • Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)
  • Cooperatives and social enterprises
  • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
  • Public or private sector entities

Applicants must:

  • Be legally established in one of the 101 CFC member countries
  • Demonstrate at least three years of operational experience

Core Eligibility Requirement

Proposed projects must:

  • Improve smallholder livelihoods
  • Increase local incomes
  • Promote environmental sustainability

Priority Areas

CFC prioritizes projects within the following thematic areas:

1. Regenerative Agriculture & Biodiversity Protection

  • Climate-smart farming practices
  • Soil restoration and ecosystem rehabilitation
  • Sustainable land-use systems

2. Local Value Addition

  • Agro-processing solutions
  • Low-impact, inclusive value chain development
  • Local market strengthening

3. AgTech & Digital Tools

  • Digital platforms for market access
  • Traceability and transparency systems
  • Inclusive technology for smallholder integration

4. Financial Access

  • Credit mechanisms for farmers
  • Blended finance models
  • Risk-sharing instruments

5. Women and Youth Empowerment

  • Gender-inclusive agribusiness models
  • Youth-led agricultural innovation
  • Entrepreneurship support in rural areas

Special Priority Considerations

Additional preference is given to:

  • Projects in the Congo Basin focused on sustainable forest and agricultural management
  • Proposals from:
    • Least Developed Countries (LDCs)
    • Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs)
    • Small Island Developing States (SIDS)
