Open Call for Cohort 2 — Build the Future of Defense and Dual-Use Technology

Organisation: Deep Tech Security Accelerator (DTSA)
Application deadline: 22 February 2026
Format: On-site
Location: United States of America
Start Date: 14 April 2026
Duration: 2 weeks

About

The Deep Tech Security Accelerator (DTSA) has launched Cohort 2, inviting advanced startups developing dual-use and defense-related technologies to apply for an intensive accelerator programme delivered in strategic partnership with SRI International.

The programme targets validation- and growth-stage startups working at the intersection of security, defense, and civilian applications, with technologies ready for real-world testing, validation, or scaling. Selected startups will join an international cohort of founders from Ukraine, the United States, Europe, the Indo-Pacific, and other allied regions, with a strong focus on strengthening cross-regional collaboration in innovation and security.

Programme Overview

DTSA is a learning-driven accelerator designed for founders seeking structured challenge, expert feedback, and direct exposure to defense and security markets. The programme combines mentoring, technical validation, ecosystem access, and market readiness support, rather than direct grant funding.

The on-site component takes place in Silicon Valley, complemented by extended remote mentoring and execution support.

Key Focus Areas

The open call is open to startups innovating across multiple defense and dual-use domains, including:

  • Data Systems & Communications: AI-driven analytics, cybersecurity, cryptography, edge computing, situational awareness, and resilient networks.
  • Land-Based Technologies: Ground robotics, autonomous systems, infrastructure protection, energy resilience, emergency response, and logistics.
  • Air Domain Technologies: Unmanned aerial systems (UAS), aerial autonomy, swarm coordination, navigation, sensing, and tactical applications.
  • Maritime & Subsea Technologies: Autonomous surface and underwater vehicles, maritime domain awareness, port infrastructure tools, and subsea protection.
  • Sky & Space Technologies: Earth observation, satellite communications, geospatial analytics, and space-based situational intelligence.
  • Bio & Med Tech Solutions: Rapid diagnostics, telemedicine, biosecurity platforms, wearable biosensors, advanced prosthetics, and disaster-response medical technologies.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant startups must meet the following conditions:

  • Operate in or demonstrate measurable impact in the U.S., Europe, Indo-Pacific, or other allied regions
  • Have a functioning prototype at TRL 6 or above
  • Show evidence of market or operational validation (e.g. pilots, users, customers, deployments)
  • Offer a technically differentiated and scalable solution, ideally with dual-use potential
  • Address defense, security, or critical technology challenges with real-world deployment potential

Programme Structure

  • Phase 1 – Online Onboarding (1 week): Programme orientation, cohort alignment, and initial strategy sessions
  • Phase 2 – Silicon Valley Residency (2 weeks): In-person workshops, briefings, ecosystem visits, and investor meetings
  • Phase 3 – Remote Execution & Mentoring (6 months): Continued expert support, milestone tracking, and investor follow-ups

Additional support for U.S. and EU market entry may include guidance on legal structuring, access to grants, and introductions to trusted partners.
