Overview

The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) is inviting applications for the 2027 cohort of the Young Leaders in Research (YLR) Grant. The YLR Grant is a 12-month structured programme for early-career African researchers producing policy-relevant research that can contribute to Africa’s economic transformation.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

• Be an African national or resident based in Africa.
• Be 35 years old or younger as of 1 January 2027.
• Hold or currently be enrolled in a master’s degree or higher.
• Have an academic background in economics or a related analytical field.
• Be an early-career researcher undertaking policy-relevant work.

Programme Focus

The programme is intended to support researchers whose work uses evidence to inform policy and contributes to issues related to Africa’s economic transformation.

Programme Duration

The Young Leaders in Research programme runs for 12 months. The programme starts on 1 January 2027.
