Overview
Applications are open for Cohort 3 of the MORE HEALTH for Africa Program (MH4A), a partnership between Boehringer Ingelheim and Villgro Africa supporting social enterprises developing and scaling healthcare solutions across Africa.
Through incubation, acceleration and catalytic funding, the programme aims to help high-impact enterprises expand sustainable healthcare solutions for underserved communities.
Who Can Apply?
The programme is seeking post-revenue social enterprises operating in Africa that are working to increase healthcare access and impact.
Eligible enterprises should demonstrate:
- Strong commercial traction, with approximately US$300,000 in annual revenue
- Demonstrated impact, reaching approximately 100,000 people
- A dedicated team
- A clear growth and scaling strategy
- Ambition and readiness to raise US$1 million or more within the next year
Programme Benefits
Selected enterprises will receive:
- Grants of up to €80,000
- Tailored support to strengthen business models
- Introductions to relevant partners
- Connections with potential investors
- Masterclasses, diagnostic panels and research support
- Exposure at the annual Making More Health Together (MMHT) convention in Germany
- Participation in one event on the African continent
- Peer-learning opportunities with founders from current and previous Villgro Africa cohorts
Programme Structure
The programme consists of two six-month phases:
- Business Foundations – 6 months:
The first phase focuses on strengthening internal business foundations, including business models, teams and governance systems. Participants receive coaching, masterclasses and tailored grants addressing key organisational needs. - Business Growth – 6 months:
The second phase focuses on scaling and external engagement. Support includes advanced mentorship, investor connections, research vouchers and networking, with particular attention to market access, investment readiness, fundraising and scaling.
Funding
Selected enterprises can receive catalytic grant funding of up to €80,000.

How to Apply
Eligible healthcare social enterprises should submit their applications through the MORE HEALTH for Africa Program application process provided by Villgro Africa.
