Her power, her ideas: Živilė Paužaitė
As part of our Her Power, Her Ideas series, the Africa-Europe Innovation Platform highlights the leadership and contributions of women who are shaping innovation ecosystems across Africa, Europe and beyond. More women are stepping into leadership roles in innovation, yet they often remain underrepresented in public narratives.

This week we spotlight Živilė Paužaitė, Head of Quality at Kaunas Science and Technology Park in Lithuania. Working at the intersection of innovation ecosystem development, international cooperation and entrepreneurship support, she contributes to building science, business and public sector collaboration models.
Through initiatives such as the AEIP Twinning Programme, she strengthens incubation services and fosters inclusive innovation ecosystems connecting European and African actors.
What has being a woman in innovation meant for your journey?
Being a woman in innovation has meant learning to lead with both competence and empathy. Innovation ecosystems are still often shaped by traditionally male-dominated leadership structures, especially in technology and investment environments. At times, this requires additional resilience, confidence and the ability to continuously demonstrate expertise.
At the same time, being a woman has been a powerful asset. It has strengthened my collaborative leadership style, my sensitivity to diversity and inclusion and my commitment to creating spaces where others — especially women and underrepresented founders — feel seen and supported.
I see innovation as a collective process, and women bring indispensable perspectives that enrich problem-solving, sustainability thinking, and long-term impact.
What message would you like to pass on to the next generation of women leaders?
Trust yourself before the world fully recognises you. Your expertise, your voice, and your vision already carry value, even if you are still growing into them.
Build strong networks, look for mentors, and do not hesitate to become one yourself. Innovation grows in ecosystems, and leadership does too. Stay curious, embrace complexity, and step into rooms where you may not immediately see many women like you. Your presence there matters.
The future of innovation should be inclusive by design. By moving forward with confidence and integrity, you are not only shaping your own path — you are quietly making it wider and more accessible for others.
Through initiatives like this series, AEIP continues to highlight the voices and leadership of women advancing inclusive innovation across Africa and Europe. Become part of the AEIP or follow us on LinkedIn and Facebook to stay engaged with the growing Africa-Europe innovation community.
